Annual Title I Parent Meeting
We had a great turnout at our annual Title I Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 12th! Mrs. Barnes, Family Engagement Coordinator, and Mr. Jackson, Principal of GHS, shared information about the Title I Program by way of a PowerPoint presentation. Parents were informed of what the Title I program is all about and explained the purpose of the program. Mrs. Barnes shared that all schools in the Meriwether County School System are Title I schools. She also shared the requirements of the Parent and Family Engagement Program. She informed parents that the District and School Level Parent and Family Engagement Policies were included in the Title I Handbook, along with each school’s Home-School Compacts. Mrs. Barnes shared how the school spends Title I money each year. Mr. Jackson shared information about the school-wide goals for each school. He shared what supports were in place to help students that may be struggling. He informed parents about the CCRPI and what it means for the school. He shared some curriculum information and what tests students are required to take in both middle and high school. Mrs. Barnes discussed stakeholder involvement and opportunities to get involved at the schools, such as with the parent advisory committee, school council, and volunteer services. She shared the different ways the schools communicate with parents, and she encouraged parents to meet with Mrs. Simmons so they could get help with logging into Infinite Campus so they can check grades anytime. Afterwards, parents were given an opportunity to ask any questions. Mrs. Barnes announced that the GHS Ladies of Essence dancers would be performing as parents transitioned to grade level meetings. The Beta Club members provided refreshments after the meeting.
