National Red Ribbon Week was from October 23rd – October 31st this year. The theme was “Send a message. Stay drug free.” Red Ribbon Week is a drug prevention campaign during which students learn about the harmful effects of drug use and pledge to stay drug-free. GMHS students participated by dressing up for spirit days throughout the week, as well as taking part in activities about staying drug-free that were facilitated by GMS Counselor, Ms. Jordan, and GHS Counselor, Ms. Seay. Students who participated in these activities received goodies such as suckers, candy, pencils, bracelets, and pencil pouches.
Dress up days included: Lei Off Drugs (Wear Hawaiian shirts and leis), Strike Out Drugs (Wear your favorite hat), Sock it to Drugs (Wear crazy, mismatched socks), We’re “Red”-y to Say NO to Drugs (Wear red), Team Up Against Drugs (Wear your favorite sports/college gear), Combat Drugs (Wear military/camo gear), and Scare Away Drugs (Wear your favorite costume).
