The Morehouse After-School TRIO Program is funded by a grant from Morehouse College. It serves students at Greenville Middle School. The after school program allows students to come two days per week to get academic help, receive information about college and career readiness, and participate in STEM activities. They can also work on various projects that are assigned to them. Students are also also able to go on field trips during the school year. This year, the TRIO Program at Morehouse College paid for students to travel to the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The students were able to experience the state-of-the-art science center, aquarium, and 280-seat IMAX Dome Theater. The teachers for the program are Mrs. Wanda Tucker and Ms. Kathy Grier. Mrs. Tabatha Barnes is the coordinator for the program. We want to thank Mr. Marshall Troup, Associate Director of Federal TRIO Programs, and the following Morehouse staff members: William Jenkins and J’Mia Bryd, for all the support they give to the students and staff at GMS.
