Transition Meeting for Rising 9th Grade Students
On March 10th, GMS Counselor, Ms. Jordan, and GHS Counselor, Ms. Seay, welcomed parents to the Rising 9th Grade & Rising 12th Grade Transition Meetings. They both shared PowerPoints and information with parents about the expectations for entering high school (for our rising 9th graders), as well as expectations for Senior year (for our rising 12th graders). Ms. Seay introduced Ms. Ball from West Georgia Technical College who explained the process of dual enrollment and how students could benefit from taking college courses. Ms. Ball shared information about the Accuplacer test and how the scores were a factor in determining if students could enroll in the program. Afterwards, Ms. Jordan opened the floor up for a question and answer session with parents.
Mrs. Barnes also shared information about the Annual Title I Parent Survey. She shared how the results of the survey would help us plan for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Barnes informed the parents that they could complete a paper copy or it could be done online using a Chromebook. After parents completed the survey, they were able to pick up important resources, such as pamphlets on career and trade schools, four year colleges, the military, community colleges, and finding a job.
